Donor Spotlight: Incoming Board Treasurer, Heather Alley

Heather Alley is a member of OnTrack WNC’s Board of Directors and currently serves on the Executive Committee. When asked why she is so deeply involved as a volunteer and donor, she answered, “I believe in the impact OnTrack WNC has on the community. It’s unique because we’re finding long-term solutions for people, not just solving a crisis today.”

Heather is a CPA and Senior Manager with Dixon Hughes Goodman, LLP. Because of her strong money-management background and dedication to OnTrack WNC, she’ll become Treasurer of the Board in January 2012.

At the end of 2010, Heather contributed a one-time gift in response to the annual appeal and helped OnTrack WNC achieve its goal of 100% of the board giving to the agency.

This year, Heather increased her gift by 600% because OnTrack WNC expanded its donor options to allow for monthly giving , “You can give more monthly if it’s budgeted in and, because it’s automatic, it’s just easier that way!” Heather analyzed her monthly budget and determined that every month she could give as much as half her one-time gift.  Her monthly giving started this month!

For OnTrack WNC, the timing of Heather’s increased giving couldn’t be better! Between now and December 31, 2011, agency supporter and Board President-elect, Dawn Starks, has agreed to match ALL  donor gifts or pledges! That means Heather’s increase plus Dawn’s match will generate twelve times more money for OnTrack WNC’s programs and services than in 2010!

Board President, Vicki Banks encouraged Board Members to give personally significant gifts in line with their values. She said, “When I think about my personal gift, I think about my values. There’s no document more telling of my values than my own bank statement! I want my bank statement to reflect, on a monthly basis, that I want others in my community to be able to make the same financial choices as I’ve been blessed to make. I’m going to make a monthly contribution to OnTrack Financial Education & Counseling.”

THANK you Heather, Vicki and Dawn for being inspired to increase your financial support this year! With these increases and those from other community supporters, OnTrack WNC will be able to keep up with the significant demand for foreclosure prevention counseling to help save homes in western NC.

Let these gifts inspire you to give so that OnTrack WNC starts 2012 in a strong financial position.  OnTrack WNC’s financial counseling and education not only save homes from foreclosure, but also transform financial lives as we help people, in every age and stage of life, develop vital knowledge and skills. From elementary and high school students to retirees, whether single or married, managing busy family schedules or adjusting to the empty nest, we guide people as they move up the steps of financial empowerment – from crisis to stability to self-sufficiency and asset building!
