I’d like to take this opportunity to tell you about some of the recent staffing changes we’ve made at OnTrack WNC and to introduce you to our new Director of Development and Communications, Zanne (short for “Suzanne”) Garland. Part of her job will be editing and distributing this e-newsletter, so watch your inbox for future Financial Flash editions from Zanne! Since 2007, OnTrack WNC has found opportunities for transformation in challenging circumstances - the organization nearly doubled in size, as we helped stem the tide of foreclosures in our community. However, the last year has been challenging; like many organizations in the nonprofit sector, we have had to respond to shortages in funding due to local, state, and federal budget cuts. |
At the end of May, we announced internally the elimination of four staff positions affecting all of our departments. Through these difficult reductions we adjusted our fiscal year expenses (July 2011 – June 2012) to more closely match our anticipated revenues and created a sound financial picture for this year.
We are as committed as ever to fully participating in the network of services that support our community and use the opportunity to streamline and refocus our management team to ensure that our agency’s services are sustainable into the future.
As a result, Sarah Brown is now Director of Integrated Programs & Client Services, managing the staff and programs of two key departments. Over the past months, the Integrated Programs / Education Department has increased OnTrack WNC’s education offerings to the community and expanded our Women’s Financial Empowerment Center education and counseling programming (as you have read about in our recent updates!) We are excited about this focused expansion enabling us to serve the greater community. (Want more education program information? Contact Sarah Brown).
As the next step in her career, Becky Brown left OnTrack WNC to join the Center for Participatory Change as of July 1st. As you know, Becky has been a wonderful asset to OnTrack WNC as our grants manager and coordinator of employer assisted housing programs. We all miss her and wish her the very best.
Becky’s departure and Sarah’s new job responsibilities gave us the opportunity to combine the fundraising and marketing components of their jobs to create a new Director of Development and Communications position. On September 6th, Zanne Garland joined our team in this role. Zanne has spent the last eight years in Seattle fundraising for organizations with very similar missions to OnTrack WNC. Already Zanne is proactively assessing our current strategies for individual and corporate support, becoming familiar with our grant funding, and using her creativity to enhance our marketing. Welcome Zanne!
Finally, we are pleased to announce that OnTrack WNC staff member Hillary Holmes has been promoted to fill a counseling vacancy and is our newest Financial/Housing counselor. Hillary has been an outstanding part of the Client Services team and has an excellent working knowledge of our agency, programs, and client needs. Congratulations Hillary!
Over the past four years, we have learned that with change often comes opportunity. Our new management structure and focused areas of work position OnTrack WNC for the next years of our work, serving western NC! Thank you for your continued support and partnership.
Thank you,
Celeste Collins
Executive Director
